“I am both an Artist and Educator at heart, and I strive for creative excellence in everything that I do.”

DSCF1171.jpgKEITH CHAN is a multi-faceted artist, creative director and educator based in Toronto and the GTA.

Keith’s creative flair and dedication to promoting higher level education all started at the early age of 5 with classical piano training. Studying under the Royal Conservatory of Music, his music training and artistic sensibilities became inseparable as he went on to complete the syllabus with honors distinctions in both advanced music theory and practical piano. His creative momentum and outburst did not stop there when he attended his first drop-in hip hop dance class with the VYbE Dance Company.  There, he quickly discovered a passion for dance and the art of movement. Realizing the importance of broadening his skills and knowledge as a dancer and soon-to-be instructor, Keith sought education and teacher training in various dance styles like latin, jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary and numerous urban dance forms. His extensive training not only directed him to find work on stage as an artist, but also led him to opportunities behind-the-scenes in large-scale production management, choreography and creative direction.

Today, Keith continues to exhibit a humble, passionate and sharing attitude while assuming a number of mentorship and leadership roles.  He is currently the Program Director at a private boarding school in Markham, Ontario, where he leads staff and students in higher level instruction, learning and programming.  After school, he carries the same energy to his roles as a piano and dance teacher, choreographer, workshop leader and group fitness instructor at several institutions in the Greater Toronto Area.   With a strong background in mathematics and language education, combined with the creative arts, Keith continues to apply his unique teaching approach as a professional educator to enlighten teachers and youth.  He aims to enrich the student experience in both realms of school and extra-curricular programming through student engagement and rigorous content-driven instruction.

Mr. Keith is a wonderful teacher. He challenges all of his students and they are very engaged through his clear and enthusiastic manner of communication. It is evident that he bases his differentiated instruction on goals that reflect high expectations. He establishes a climate of trust and teamwork by being fair, caring and respectful. I can tell the students really enjoy being in his class!
